It all started with an idea to build and paint a baseball themed rifle. Having experience with graphic design, I rendered an Atlanta Braves themed AR15. Once finished, this quickly became my favorite gun.
After seeing multiple ads for GOAT Guns on my Facebook page I thought to myself, I wonder if I could paint one of those to look like my real gun? I quickly realized that in order to make it satisfy my standards I had to learn to 3D print some parts. Luckily, I was already working as a Mechanical Engineer in the firearms industry and had access to a filament 3D printer. I designed the first free float hand guard in about 20 minutes and did one single print. Then followed the flashlight, and laser. With minimal experience with 3D printers I felt the work was acceptable. Painted and assembled the GOAT Gun to match its larger brother and placed it on display.
As I became more involved in the GOAT Guns community, I realized that there were many others who wanted a free float hand guard. I ventured out and purchased a resin 3D printer with the ability to print much greater details. Spending more time and effort in the research and development phase I was able to design and prototype a new hand guard with much greater detail, accuracy, and functionality.
Realizing that there was a great demand for more detailed attachments for GOAT Guns, I have begun designing many different options for the AR15 with other designs to follow. My ultimate goal is to design miniature models to replicate every gun I own.
Thanks for joining me on this journey.
